The interior stone walls and floor repeat the craggy exterior as well as the natural setting which is typical of Wright's work. The central massive fireplace is the heart of the living space which includes a complete kitchen, living/dining room and bedroom surrounded by windows. Picnicking, boating (weather permitting), swimming, fishing, cross-country skiing, and just plain relaxing may be enjoyed by all. There is a 2-night minimum unless there is 1 night available in between 2 other reservations. The Cottage books up quickly so please plan ahead.
We provide basic essentials but not items like salt, pepper, oil. Please plan to bring these. Reservations are taken up to 2 years out.

The Seth Peterson cottage is a unique and historic piece of architecture. It provides the opportunity for those with an interest to experience living in a Frank Lloyd Wright artistic creation. By its design and nature it allows one to experience the natural attributes of Mirror Lake and in all its natural beauty in any Season. It is not a " luxury property " but a magnificent work of art. The conservancy and Board and Sand County are doing a great job in my opinion.

At the Seth Peterson Cottage, the frying pans need replacing. I would suggest stainless steel ones, rather than the no-stick variety which are just not up to the wear and tear at a rental.

Property was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Enjoyed getting to use the canoe on this visit, and grilling out dinner one night. We were VERY happy to get two nights to stay on this visit (only had one last time), it really gave us time to relax and settle in. Only comment for something that could be updated is that some of the bedding could be replaced (mattress pads and pillows.) Also, it smelled REALLY smoky in the cabin and being in the upper 80s we couldn't leave windows open to air it out. Wondered if someone before us didn't have the damper opened properly. We don't remember it being like that when we stayed last year and it was colder then and more likely fireplace was being used frequently. Thank you to the conservancy members and others that make staying at this lovely, unique property possible!

We loved everything about our stay except the cooking pans in the kitchen, which had a coating that we cracked. Since a lot of such coating aren't considered safe anymore, we were particularly concerned about the safety. Since we had our food with us and planned to cook we used them, but they really need to be replaced - all 3 of the pans.

My husband said it really needs a tv. I don't know about that. Also, you really need to cut down the trees that are blocking the lake view. I don't care what the state's policy is on letting vegetation take its course. That does NOT apply when you have a lake view that is blocked by 3 big and unneeded trees. I know Seth would have cut them down! Also, you need to address the bathroom window. Soooooo much cold air (wind!) comes in through there. Some weather stripping might help or something more. Loved the cottage and the property. Would love to come stay there during the summer.
